FAQs

Q: IF WE ARE CLEANING OUT A BASEMENT OR HOME DO YOU PROVIDE ANY LABOR SERVICES?

A:  No.  We do not have labor for this type of service.  We do recommend that before discarding any of your materials, check with Goodwill Industries or St. Vincent de Paul to determine if some of the materials may be donated and if so, what items would be picked up on-site by the local organization.

Q: WHAT TYPES OF HEAVY MATERIALS CAN BE PUT IN THE DUMPSTER?

A:  Concrete, dirt, bricks, and other compact materials may be put in the 12 yard or 20 yard dumpsters but only if the container is to contain these items exclusively.  Dumpsters containing trash, construction material, etc., may not contain any concrete, dirt, bricks, etc.  Any exclusive dumpster of concrete, dirt, bricks etc., can only be filled a maximum of 1/2 (half) full for either of these size dumpsters.  Please talk to our customer service specialists about any extra heavy materials you may have.

Q: CAN THE DUMPSTER BE PLACED IN THE STREET?

A:  In many municipalities, the dumpster cannot be placed in the adjoining roadway without the customer getting and paying for a street permit. These permits can be costly, so check with your local municipality. Our company requires that the customer be responsible for where the container is placed, and each customer must sign a delivery receipt before the container is delivered.

Q: WHERE CAN I PLACE THE DUMSPTER?

A:  Most homeowners will put the dumpster in their driveway.  Driveways must have a firm foundation or the weight of the truck and the loaded container may break the drive. The dumpster may be placed on the lawn, but the weight of the truck and the container will damage the lawn and in some cases leave ruts. If you think that your driveway will be damaged, you may want to order our smallest container, a 6 yard, which has a small footprint and weighs considerably less then the bigger containers.  Please examine the area you think the container can be placed and where the truck will travel to place it there. The container cannot be set down under overhead wires or trees branches.

Q: WHAT TYPES OF THINGS CAN'T GO IN THE TRASH DUMPSTER?

A:  No chemicals, liquids or special wastes such as wet paint or pesticides are allowed in any dumpster.  Recyclable materials such as cardboard, plastics #1-7, glass, paper, newspaper, tin and aluminum beverage containers should not be put in your trash dumpster.  Please call us for recycling collection options at (608) 257-4285 our customer service specialists will assist you.  No electronics, appliances, computers, televisions, grass, leaves, brush, fluorescent light bulbs/fixtures or drums are allowed in trash dumpsters.  Some items require special handling or processing such as appliances or computers. Please see our list of Prohibited Materials for alternative disposal methods and options.

Q: DELIVERY SLIP INFORMATION?

A:  The delivery slip contains information about proper container use.  Customers are not allowed to overload the container by weight or by volume; the container should not be loaded over the top level for regular waste, or less then half or one-third full if the material is dense and heavy like dirt, gravel, concrete, and cleanfill.  No Prohibited Materials in the container; any acidic, flammable, liquid, hazardous or toxic. Damages: Pellitteri Waste System’s is not responsible for damage to pavement, lawn, or surface of any route reasonably necessary to perform the service, as the customer warrants that surfaces are sufficient to bear the weight of our equipment. Rental fees: $10.00 per day is assessed on containers that are not dumped within the allotted time. Extra charges:  Additional diesel fuel charges may apply along with overweight fees.  Payment: Customer agrees to pay all charges within 30 days of invoice if they have an established credit account.  If you have any further questions about our policies and procedures please call and talk with our customer service specialists at (608) 257-4285.

Q: SHOULD THE CUSTOMER BE THERE WHEN WE DELIVER THE CONTAINER?

A:  Yes. We prefer to have the customer be on-site to sign for the container placement and other terms of delivery. We also require payment at the time of delivery which can be handled at the time of delivery by cash or check or before hand by credit card.  If you prefer to pay with cash or check upon delivery there is an additional $100 deposit required.  The additional $100 deposit is secured for potential overage of tonnage (if you exceed the tonnage included with your flat fee) or can be used towards additional days of use over and above the regular days of demurrage.  If you are unavailable during the delivery of your container you may make arrangements with Pellitteri's customer service representative and have a delivery slip emailed or sent to you prior to delivery, as we must have a signed delivery slip in order to deliver the container.

Q: WHAT ARE LANDFILL TIPPING FEES?

A:  The landfill fees associated with disposing of waste materials are charged by the ton (2000 lbs=1 ton). When we take your load of discarded material to the landfill, our truck is weighed upon arrival and then weighed again after the load has been dumped.  The net weight of the material is then calculated.  Most of our temporary dumpsters have a flat rate fee which includes the cost of a specified amount of tons.  Our customer service specialists will be happy to give you additional information specific to your needs when you call (608) 257-4285.

Q: HOW LONG CAN I KEEP THE DUMPSTER WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGES?

A:  All temporary dumpsters can be kept for 7 days anytime during the year.  Depending on the season there may be additional days allotted for use.  Please ask your customer service specialist for the current days of demurrage (the total days dumpster can be kept without incurring additional fees) when ordering your dumpster.
