A change in recycling pickup in Middleton should be a win-win for both the city and residents, with more material recycled at a lower cost.
The city has amended its solid waste collection contract with Pellitteri Waste Systems to have recyclables picked up every week instead of every two weeks, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The change should eliminate the problem of residents putting recyclables in the garbage carts when their recycling carts are full.
"Pellitteri believes weekly collection of recyclable materials will reduce our community's use of landfills, increase conservation of resources and save money," the city said in a news release.
Residents are asked to put recyclables in the blue carts and refuse in the brown carts. There's no need to sort the recyclables, and a list of what's allowed is available online.
